Aging is an inevitable process that affects both physical and cognitive abilities in older adults. While 20% of this process is determined by genetic factors, the remaining 80% is influenced by epigenetic and environmental factors, meaning that our daily decisions can significantly impact our quality of life as we age.
At Rosita Longevity, in collaboration with the Inside-U consortium, we are forging a new path toward healthy aging using advanced technological tools. These technologies enable the early diagnosis and prevention of frailty, offering older adults the opportunity to remain active and functional for longer. This project focuses on the early identification of risk factors associated with frailty and the implementation of personalized intervention programs that promote autonomy in non-hospital settings.
The context of the project
Frailty is a state of high vulnerability in which older adults are more prone to falls, accidents, and chronic diseases, severely compromising their independence and quality of life. However, if detected early, frailty can be prevented or delayed with appropriate interventions. At Rosita, we focus on combating this issue through three key technological pillars: advanced biometrics, biomechanical analysis, and portable low-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The project we are developing within the framework of the Business Value Chain Consolidation Program aims to democratize access to cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, which were traditionally available only in hospital settings. The ability to monitor the neuromuscular condition of users in their own homes is revolutionary, as it removes the logistical and financial barriers that often hinder access to preventive care.
The technology behind Rosita
One of the most significant advances in our project is the development of the Rosita Longevity mobile app, a tool that allows users to follow physical activity programs tailored to their specific needs. This app not only provides personalized exercises to promote healthy aging but also enables continuous monitoring of key biomarkers, giving our medical team a detailed view of each participant’s progress.
In addition to the app, we have also implemented biometric and biomechanical analysis systems that evaluate the users’ physical and cognitive functionality. These data are combined with information obtained through an innovative low-field portable MRI, which provides detailed images of the neuromuscular tissues—something previously only possible in specialized hospitals.
The combination of these technologies has allowed us to develop a comprehensive early diagnostic model, which segments users based on their frailty risk level and adapts preventive interventions accordingly. This personalized approach ensures that each participant receives the most appropriate treatment for their particular situation.
The impact of Rosita on public health
Healthy aging is not just an individual matter; it is a global challenge. With life expectancy on the rise, it is crucial to find solutions that allow older adults to maintain their autonomy longer, thus avoiding the strain on public healthcare systems. In this regard, Rosita Longevity is not only improving the quality of life of its users but also contributing to optimizing the available healthcare resources.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project is its ability to generate large amounts of data on the aging process in non-hospital settings. This information has great potential to help public administrations improve decision-making related to the care of older adults, as well as to anticipate the future needs of the population.
In short, democratizing access to advanced diagnostic and prevention technologies not only improves the lives of individuals but also creates a positive societal impact. We are convinced that Rosita’s personalized and accessible approach will mark a turning point in how aging is addressed.
The Rosita project is demonstrating that it is possible to prevent frailty and promote healthy aging through a combination of advanced technology and a personalized approach. As we continue to gather data and refine our interventions, we are getting closer to creating a comprehensive model that allows older adults to live independently and healthily for longer.
While challenges remain ahead, the results we have achieved so far fill us with optimism. With Rosita, we are not only improving the present for our users, but we are also helping to shape a future where healthy aging is accessible to all.
